Because the toll tax has been increased once again by the government. Actually, this decision has been taken in the recent 82nd meeting of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Whose new rates will be implemented from October 1. Yamuna Expressway is also known as Taj Expressway.

Toll tax increased so much

In a recent meeting, it has been decided that the toll rates on the expressway will be increased by 4%. After this new increase, the rates for two-wheelers will increase from Rs 1.30 per kilometer to Rs 1.50.
At the same time, rates for jeeps and cars will increase from Rs 2.70 per kilometer to Rs 2.95. Toll for light commercial vehicles has increased from Rs 4.35 to Rs 4.70 per kilometer.
Similarly, toll rates for buses and trucks will increase from Rs 8.95 per kilometer to Rs 9.35. Rates for heavy construction vehicles have increased from Rs 12.90 to Rs 13.35 per kilometer and rates for oversized vehicles have been increased from Rs 17.60 to Rs 18.10 per kilometer.
After the new rates come into effect, the toll amount for traveling by car from Greater Noida to Agra will increase from Rs 270 to Rs 295. Similarly, for buses, the amount will increase from Rs 895 to Rs 935. For oversized vehicles, the toll will increase from Rs 1760 to Rs 1835.
Toll tax has been increased so many times before
This is not the first increase in toll rates on the Yamuna Expressway. When the expressway became operational in 2012, the toll rate for cars was Rs 2.10 per kilometer, while for buses and trucks it was Rs 6.60 per kilometer. For heavy construction vehicles, the rate was Rs 10.10 per kilometer.
After this, the toll rates were increased for the first time in 2014, in which the rates for cars were increased from Rs 2.10 to Rs 2.50 per kilometer. For buses and trucks, the rate was increased from Rs 6.60 to Rs 7.50 per kilometer and for heavy vehicles from Rs 10.10 to Rs 12.05 per kilometer.
After this, the toll rates increased again in 2022. The toll rate for cars was increased from Rs 2.50 to Rs 2.65 per kilometer, while for buses and trucks the rate was increased from Rs 7.50 to Rs 8.45 per kilometer.
For heavy construction vehicles, the rate was increased from Rs 12.05 to Rs 12.90 and for oversized vehicles, the rate was increased from Rs 15.55 to Rs 18.80 per kilometer.
