ED Court: Charges have been framed in ED court against ten accused including suspended IAS and former DC of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan in a case related to money laundering through illegal purchase and sale of 4.55 acres of army-occupied land in Bargain zone of Ranchi. On Monday, the hearing on framing of charges began in the court of PMLA Court Special Judge Rajiv Ranjan. Suspended IAS Chhavi Ranjan's lawyer demanded more time, but the court refused.

Evidence will be presented in court on July 22
Chhavi Ranjan's lawyer declared him innocent during the hearing. ED Special Public Prosecutor Shiv Kumar Kaka protested against this and said that sufficient evidence has been found against him in the ED investigation. While approving the framing of charges, the court has fixed July 22 as the date for presenting evidence on behalf of the ED in the case.

Charges framed against 10 accused in ED court
Chavi Ranjan has been in jail since May 4, 2023. Apart from Chhavi Ranjan, others who have been charged include Kolkata businessman Amit Agarwal, the then Revenue Sub Inspector of Bargain Zone Bhanu Pratap Prasad, fake land Raiyat Pradeep Bagchi, RIMS employee Afsar Ali, Imtiaz Ahmed, Md. Saddam Hussain, Talha Khan, Fayaz Ahmed and Kolkata businessman Dilip Ghosh.
