The morale of the security forces is high by continuously putting pressure on the Naxalites. Bastar Naxal Attack: The countdown of Naxalites has started in Chhattisgarh. As soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party government was formed in the state, Naxalite encounters increased and for the first time the security forces have succeeded in reaching the secret hideouts of the Maoists.

In the last 100 days, security forces killed about 37 Naxalites in separate encounters. These encounters are costing the Naxalites heavily as they are suffering loss of both life and property. In the last 3 months, the security forces not only recovered huge quantity of weapons and other Naxal material but also succeeded in dismantling the local network of Maoists.

Naxalites instigated and threatened the public through various kinds of propaganda to not participate in the elections. Meanwhile, these anti-national elements took some innocent villagers hostage and killed some.

Bastar has voting on 19th April

Bastar Naxal Encounter: The first phase of elections in the state will be held in the extremely Naxal area Bastar where the security forces will face the challenge of conducting peaceful voting. In the second phase, elections are held in Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon and Kanker.

In Rajnandgaon and Kanker too, in view of the threat from Naxalites, voting will be conducted in the presence of heavy security forces. The Central Government has also made it clear that this time no violence will be allowed. To control the Naxalites, four states including Chhattisgarh have together decided that no disturbance or violence will be allowed during the elections.
